In a similar way as with an
internet search engine you can do simple free searching.
In the first line of the
search mask you find a field „cross reference“. The terms written in
this field be taken from title elements, subject headings, author names,
sources (also abbreviations of a journal name), classification codes in verbal
form as well as alternative forms of authors and subject headings.
The search terms are always
connected with „and“. They are automatically truncated: for
example you find with the term „Luther“ also „Lutheran“ etc. In the same way
the search for numbers can become less precise (exception: if you write
chapters and verses of bible texts, for example: 1:46-55 for the Magnificat of
Mary in Luke’s Gospel).
Next to the search field of
the cross reference / free search a button makes it possible to open the „cross
reference index“. This index integrates the entries of the other indexes
which are otherwise searchable as single terms in the search mask.
