Riepilogo:Experiences of the so-called »supernatural« do not only find a great public interest in mass media. A representative survey, conducted at the Institut für Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene e. V. shows: Many people are open-minded about psychic phenomena and they also have personal experiences of such a kind. It is remarkable how different the persons concerned do evaluate such experiences. A follow-up-survey showed how large the scope of interpretation in this area is. Although many of the persons concerned do evaluate their experiences as »unexplainable « events which are seen as meaningful and remembered as emotionally highly charged, all in all the reference to metaphysical qualities of these experiences is considerably less than one might expect. Most of these experiences do hardly challenge the rational world-view. For this reason it makes sense to speak of a secular pattern of interpretation concerning the supernatural which results in seeing the exceptional experience as an every-day miracle. The article presents the main results of the interview-study and closes with sociological theses with respect to the most important characteristics of this interpretation.
