AB The article discusses how forms of Islam based on Sharia law are incompatible with Western civilization as they are out of sync with democracy. It notes that Islamic religious and ethical systems having no link to Sharia are compatible with democracy and with Western definitions of human rights and civil liberties. It adds how the classical interpretation of Sharia law prescribes the death sentence for people who have lapsed from Islam.
