Descripción
Sumario:Designing and teaching courses on disability, disease, and the Bible present special problems and opportunities. In this article, the author offers pedagogical advice for instructors of such courses. In the first section, he addresses several aspects of syllabus construction, including course goals, arrangement of material, bibliographic resources, accessibility statements, accessibility of materials, and learning assessment. In the second section, he offers insights on the practice of pedagogy, including self-disclosure, classroom dynamics, institutional context, navigating specialized language, and the value of team teaching. Though a graduate-level course provided the impetus for this article, the author discusses matters also pertinent for undergraduate instruction.
