Resumo:The article examines the twelfth-century charters of Citeaux's daughter houses. The abbots of mother and daughter houses visited one another frequently as was required by "Charter of Charity." The monks of Citeaux wanted to acquire parcels of land from various donors. Saint Stephen Harding planned to create a new monastery for his expanding community.
