Riepilogo:This article focuses on the interconnection between emotion, politics, and religion. In the framework of the "return of religion" in global politics with its attention to how religious belonging has the potential to increase as well as temper violent conflicts, it is argued that one important and still largely neglected interconnection between religion and politics is the emotional dimension. Hence, renewed attention should be given to the way religious belonging engenders and intensifies feelings such as shame, bitterness, grief, pride, joy, and openness to the other. Such an awareness of the intimate interconnection between faith and emotion should be included in interreligious dialogue. If "dia-logos" has a primary focus on the "meaning" of different faith traditions and how these converge or conflict, then "dia-pathos" could signal a more structured and systematic focus on the interconnection between "faith" and "the emotional regime" in different religions, as well as having a particular focus on the human condition of shared and constitutive vulnerability.
