Résumé:From the author's viewpoint, one of the great tragedies of our times is the conquest of Tibet by China shortly after the victory of the communists on the mainland. He takes a critical look at how China gained control over Tibet, Tibetan resistance, flight of the Dalai Lama to India in 1959, recent political changes in the PRC and their implications for Tibet. The author also reports briefly on his interview with the Dalai Lama on 23.9.1986. Tibetan viewpoint about the interests India should have about an independent Tibet. (DÜI-Sen)
