RT Article T1 Is the Book of Jubilees a commentary on Genesis or an intended replacement? JF Munich 2013 VO 21 SP 67 OP 91 A1 Ḳugel, G'aims 1945- LA English PB Brill YR 2013 UL https://www.ixtheo.de/Record/1637251467 AB Describing Jubilees in a single phrase is a daunting task. The very fact that it successfully explained numerous puzzling features of Genesis proved that it did indeed come from God through his prophet Moses. But if Jubilees is not principally a commentary on Genesis or its intended replacement, then what is it? This chapter seeks to shed some light on the nature of Jubilees through an exploration of the following specific issues: (1) the content and date of the book; (2) its overall purpose; (3) the form of its biblical interpretation; and (4) the interpolator or final redactor of the book. The book of Jubilees is an expansive retelling of the narratives of Genesis and the first part of the book of Exodus. The book of Jubilees was apparently a highly regarded work in Second Temple times. SN 9789004278233 K1 Bibel : Genesis K1 Liber iubilaeorum K1 Kommentar DO 10.1163/9789004281226_005
