| Riepilogo: | Since the beginning of the 1980s, the reformist elite of the Muslim community of the Cote d'Ivoire draws its inspiration from the concept of da'wa, or "call to Islam", in order to reorganise and reform the whole Islamic sphere, softly bringing genuine, about religious revolution. This article reviews the process by which this da'wa, a classic Koranic notion recently given new energy by the dominant theology of the Arab-Islamic world, has been reappropriated and transformed in Cote d'Ivoire's Muslims. The local environment, the experience of modernity and Christianity have indeed influenced the rereading of the da'wa in this country at different levels. The original cultural and religious synthesis is proof of the participation of the Muslim population of Cote d'Ivoire in the globalisation of contemporary Islamism and dissociates globalisation from a strict standardisation. The radical nature of the changes introduced by the da'wa in the Cote d'Ivoire is illustrated by efforts of rationalisation and professionalisation of the proselytism and by the emphasis on social and economic action. This article shows the extent to which this evolution has created a deep historical watershed, in all respects. (Autrepart/DÜI) |
