AB Der Autor diskutiert die Stellung des Laien im neuen CIC. Er kommt dabei zu folgenden vier Schlussfolgerungen: Trotz einer im Vergleich zum Codex von 1917 positiveren Einschätzung der Funktion der Laien wird auch durch das neue Gesetzbuch die Scheidung zwischen den beiden Ständen deutlich aufrechterhalten. Der Ordo wird höher geschätzt als jegliche Sachkompetenz. Ein heute in vielen Teilkirchen bestehender Bereich, der sich zwischen Klerikern und Laien unter dem Zwang der Verhältnisse (Priestermangel) herausgebildet hat, wird vom neuen Codex nicht erfasst. Auch das neue Kirchenrecht geht trotz mancher verbalen Beteuerungen letztlich vom unmündigen Laien aus, der in allen wirklich wichtigen Fragen der Führung durch den Kleriker bedarf
