Dies wirft eine Reihe von ethischen und rechtlichen Fragen auf, die zum Teil kontrovers diskutiert werden. Der Umgang mit diesen Fragen und die konkrete Umsetzung in der klinischen Praxis haben maßgeblichen Einfluss auf das in Deutschland vorhandene Potential realisierbarer Organspenden und damit auf Lebenschancen und Lebensqualität von über 10.000 Patienten auf den Wartelisten zur Organtransplantation. | ||

The detection and evaluation of possible organ donors therefore has to start before the diagnosis of brain death is definitely determined. This raises ethical and legal questions which are discussed controversially sometimes. The dealing with these questions in clinical practice has enormous influence on the potential of realisable organ donors in Germany and, as a result, on life chances and quality of life of more than 10.000 patients on the waiting lists for transplantation. | ||
