| Σύνοψη: | The desire to communicate the Gospel to Christians and non-Christians has characterized the origins of Franciscanism. The apparently unsuccessful experience of the preaching of Francis to the Sultan and the martyrdom of the Franciscan protomartyrs in Morocco had brought, in the subsequent process of the institutionalization of the Order, both a nostalgia and a transformation of the work of evangelization, to which St. Bonaventure gave a significant theoretical and practical plan.
