AB The author explores the presence of Protestant missionaries in South Korea in the early twentieth-century in response to the concept of abundant history advocated by scholar Robert Orsi in his book "History and Presence." Topics discussed include the forms of religion in Korea prior to the introduction of Christianity, the acknowledgment and interpretation of Korean shaman practices by Orsi, and the contribution of mudangs or shamans to the successful establishment of Protestantism in Korea.
