AB  Muitos preceitos da Regra de Sao Bento estão relacionados ao cultivo da educação e da disciplina. São normas que oferecem aos discípulos urna oficina adequada, com instrumentos e ferramentas que apontam e ensinam o caminho do conhecimento e da verdade, mostrando os elementos necessários para a eficácia deste trabalho. Esta educação ao discernimento da vontade e dafé é urna verdadeira arte; uma atmosfera familiar, onde existam confiançã, diálogo, firmeza e respeito, permite que o educando torne-se progressivamente um cidadão instruído, íntegro e civilizado. Os valores beneditinos, transcritos na Regra de São Bento e aplicáveis na educação, mostram o equilíbrio humano de São Bento. Tais valores permanecem, ao longo dos séculos, como a base de um ideal pedagógico perene, sob a égide da Sagrada Escritura. Assim, pela pedagogía, podem-se buscar os valores que São Bento quis transmitir ao mundo pela sua Regra e pelo seu testemunho de vida.
AB Many precepts of the Rule of Saint Benedict are related to the development of education and disciplines. These are rules which offer the pupils and adequate workshop, containing devices and tools which point out and teach the path to knowledge and truth, revealing the features necessary to the efficacy of such a task. This education aiming the discernment of the will and faith is a true art; a familiar atmosphere, filled with confidence, dialogue, assurance and respect, allows the student to progressively develop as an educated, upright and civilized citizen. Benedictine values, transcribed in the Rule of Saint Benedict and applicable in the learning process, reveal Saint Benedict as balanced human being. Such values endure, over the centuries, as the basis of a perennial pedagogical ideal inspired by the Holy Scripture. Thus, through pedagogy, one can search the values which Saint Benedict wished to communicate to the world in his Rule and his life testimony.
