| Riepilogo: | The present text evaluates food culture at the Jesuit College of Montesión in Palma de Mallorca, from its foundation in 1561 to the end of the Spanish War of Succession in 1715. It will do this by comparing this local case to the theories and ideals of Jesuit and Tridentine food culture. The article is structured in three parts. First, it deals with the representation and dissemination of food culture models through accounts of exemplary Jesuit lives, especially the local saint Alonso Rodriguez. Second, it analyses the availability and type of food consumed by the Jesuit community through financial means and the agricultural use of their rural properties. Finally, the Society's food culture will be evaluated through reports produced by provincial visitors. The outcomes of the research point to the need to redefine traditional views on the subject by exploring the relationship between religion and food culture through a large variety of literary and archival sources in the cultural, economic and institutional spheres. El objetivo del presente texto es evaluar el modelo de cultura de la alimentación en el colegio de Montesión de Palma de Mallorca desde su fundación en 1561 hasta el final de la Guerra de Sucesión en 1715. Para elio, se presenta una definición de la cultura de la alimentación jesuitica y su relación con la cultura de la alimentación tridentina, y se contrapone con los datos de un caso locai. Para realizarlo se estudian tres elementos. En primer lugar, los modelos ideales representados y difundidos a través de biografias y escritos de varones ilustres, especialmente, los del santo locai Alonso Rodriguez. En segundo lugar, se analiza el acceso y la tipologia de los alimentos consumidos por la comunidad a través de la contabilidad y de la explotación agricola de las propiedades del convento. Por ultimo, se evalua el cumplimiento de la cultura de la alimentación jesuitica a través de los informes elaborados por los visitadores provinciales. El resultado de la investigación apunta a continuar analizando la definición de cultura de la alimentación y su relación con la religion a través del cruce de distintos tipos de fuentes, culturales, económicas e institucionales, que complementen la vision tradicional del tema. |
