AB L’article étudie la question de l’ordination diaconale des femmes remis une nouvelle fois au goût du jour lors du synode pour l’Amazonie. Il reprend le dossier scripturaire et historique avant de poser la question de l’opportunité pastorale qui est sans doute le vrai sujet. Depuis le concile Vatican II et l’instauration d’un diaconat permanent pour les hommes, le débat est régulièrement repris pour un diaconat féminin. Cet article revisite les arguments qui s’opposeraient à cette ordination, avant de souligner à quel point l’ouverture du diaconat aux femmes conviendrait à la situation de chrétiennes engagées dans des responsabilités et des missions dans l’Église et la société. Cette reconnaissance de ministères déploierait le signe du Christ serviteur et serait en cohérence avec l’Église plus synodale que souhaite le pape François.
AB This article examines the issue of women’s ordination to the diaconate, which was discussed anew at the Amazon Synod. We will consider the scriptural and historical background before discussing the issue’s pastoral pertinence, which is undoubtedly the real issue at stake. Since the Second Vatican Council and the establishment of a permanent diaconate for men, there has been recurring debate concerning the possibility of a female diaconate. This article reconsiders the arguments raised in opposition to this ordination before underlining the extent to which the opening of the diaconate to women would suit the situation of female Christians exercising positions of responsibility and missions in the Church and in civil society. This recognition of women’s ministry would build upon the image of Christ as servant and would be consonant with the more synodal Church desired by Pope Francis.
