總結:On November 3, 2020, the 46th president of the United States will be elected. The Republican Donald Trump and the Democrat Joe Biden are competing for the position, in elections where the two candidates’ personalities express two opposing cultural universes. This article deals with the American Constitution from a historical-institutional point of view, in particular the «exceptional» role it assigns to the presidential office. Today, due to the Covid-19 emergency and intense social conflict, aggravated by recent racial clashes, the election in the United States is going to take place in a difficult political and social climate.
