Descrição
Resumo:This paper sets out a taxonomy or map for the study of spirituality called the Two-Fold Model of Spiritual Difference, with the aim of providing a scheme that is comprehensive at the broadest possible level. The scheme presents a global and epochal perspective that is appropriate for a pluralistic era, while recognizing that any taxonomy of the subject matter for the study of spirituality must be provisional, and tuned to the task in hand. To this end three well-known existing taxonomies are examined as a way of developing a method for the constructing of such maps, in particular the idea that some schemes are more developmental, and others more locatory. It is suggested that, as studies in spirituality becomes as distinct from religious studies as religious studies became distinct from theology, new maps like these are needed for the flourishing of this discipline.
