Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:The legatine councils of Autun (September 1077) and Poitiers (January 1078) are well known for the interdictions of lay investiture promulgated by pope Gregory VII's legate, bishop Hugh of Die. The Poitiers interdiction has been conserved and is transmitted together with a set of canons concerning church reform. The article traces the way of these canons into the conciliar editions of the 17th and 18th centuries and presents their textual transmission. A critical edition, based on all known manuscripts, including a recension transmitted only by Ms. Bibliothèque nationale de France, manuscript latin 2050, is provided. A commentary discusses the canons in the context of contemporary legislation trying so as to verify if they really are as innovative and radical as historiography has understood them
