AB O  artigo,  a  partir  de  um  procedimento  comparativo,  aponta  desdobra-mentos literários da Bíblia, tal como revista pelos rabinos nos primeirosséculos da nossa era. O midrash- assim como outros produtos literáriosna tradição judaica - encontra a sua sustentação na idéia da Bíblia comotexto sagrado; o texto sagrado, entretanto, sofre uma transformação radi-cal no comentário midrash. A autora demonstra a afirmação anterior ana-lisando a transformação da história de Esaú e Jacó, assim como o seu sig-nificado, na narrativa bíblica e no midrash.
AB This article points to the literary consequences of the Bible, as viewed byrabbis of the first centuries of this era. The midrash– as well as other lite-rary products of Jewish tradition – finds support in the idea that the Bibleas a sacred text; however, the sacred text suffers a radical transformationin the midrashcommentary. The author demonstrates this in an analysisof the changes in Esau and Jacob’s story, as well as its meaning, from the biblical narrative to the midrash.
