Riepilogo:Saul is the only person in the Chronicler's genealogies not to be linked to one of Jacob's twelve sons. He is linked instead with Gibeon, a city which typifies Canaanite religious and political traditions. He is therefore unsuitable to be king, and the future belongs to David and a revived Davidic state. The MT of Samuel associates Saul instead with Gibeah (2 Sam. 21.6), and thus prefers prophetic ideals of the kingship and of the future.
