AB Esta investigación se aboca a la contribución de los obispos latinoamericanos y caribeños en la confección de Optatam totius, el decreto conciliar dedicado a la formación de los presbíteros. En un primer apartado, el estudio se detiene en el tiempo anterior al Concilio, a saber, las fases antepreparatoria y preparatoria. En esta sección se da cuenta, principalmente, de las respuestas (consilia et vota) que los obispos dieron a las preguntas hechas por Juan XXIII con motivo de la convocación del Concilio, y las discusiones que se dieron a su propósito. En un segundo apartado, este artículo trata del aporte del episcopado latinoamericano durante el mismo Vaticano II. Por último, se examina el influjo que ha podido tener la contribución latinoamericana en el documento final aprobado por la asamblea conciliar.
AB This research focuses on the contribution of the Latin American and Caribbean bishops to the preparation of Optatam totius, the conciliar decree dedicated to the formation of priests. In the first section, the time before the Council is studied, covering the pre‐preparatory and preparatory phases. This section mainly gives an account of the answers (consilia et vota) that the bishops gave to the questions asked by John XXIII at the time of the convocation of the Council, and the discussions that were held on its purpose. In a second section, this article deals with the contribution of Latin Americans during Vatican II itself. Finally, the influence that the Latin American and Caribbean contribution may have had on the final document approved by the conciliar assembly is examined.
