Descrição
Resumo:This essay examines how family violence, the divinization of the family and the religious call to sacrifice are interrelated. Could a Christian-theological perspective on the meaning of the cross in some way prevent religion from being a legitimization of family violence? Drawing on René Girard's thought, the author shows how the cross of Jesus can be liberating for people in the light of the danger of family violence.
