Riepilogo:The Blackwell Companion to the Bible in English Literature seeks to explore the rich intersections between major English writers and the Bible. The editors state in their ‘General Introduction’ a specific goal: ‘consideration of the uses that specific writers have found for the Bible’ (p. 5). Such an approach situates this volume within the field of Religion and Literature. Importantly, the essays included move beyond the clear influence the Bible has throughout English Literature insofar as they ‘are suggestive of the flexibility of biblical engagement, which extends beyond intertextual reference’ (p. 7).
