Sumario:The publication of the fragments of the long-lost Gospel of Judas was marked by something of a fanfare in America and attracted considerable attention, although it has received rather less notice in Britain. There were also the usual dire predictions as to its possibly damaging consequences for Christianity. Simon Gathercole puts at the head of his introduction a set of banner headlines from a Sunday paper: ‘WORLD EXCLUSIVE/The Gospel of Judas Iscariot/“Greatest archaeological discovery of all time”/threat to 2000 years of Christian teaching’ (Mail on Sunday, 12 March 2006).
