| Resumo: | After a sustained period of emphasis on the role of the Christian Right in America, we are seeing signs of a stronger Christian Left. In the last presidential election, some 30 per cent of evangelicals under age 30 voted for Barack Obama. If we are to understand this shift, if indeed there is one, occurring in America then we need a firm grasp of the social gospel tradition and its heirs, both in terms of its ideas and its history. In his timely account, Gary Dorrien gives us both, offering us a very detailed and comprehensive account of Christian social ethics. |
