Descripción
Sumario:This brief account of Mitchell's life and work concentrates on his return to Anglicanism and his contribution, as an Oxford philosopher working against the stream, to metaphysics and Christian ethics. The influence on him of Austin Farrer and the key role he played in ‘The Metaphysicals’ and in C. S. Lewis's ‘Socratic Club’ are emphasized. There follows an account of Mitchell's main publications in the fields of natural theology, faith and reason, and moral philosophy. Mention is also made of his work on purely theological matters, his contribution to Church of England working parties on ethical issues, and his involvement in the life and worship of the Church.
