Riepilogo:In a.d. 538 Cassiodorus left office as praetorian prefect in the regime of the Ostrogoth kingdom under Witiges. He remained in Ravenna and sometime in that year published his De anima. Between 538 and the capture of Ravenna by Belisarius (beginning of 540), Cassiodorus began his Commentary on the Psalms. He had completed at least the ‘praefationes’ and a commentary on the opening Psalms before he was sent, together with Witiges, Matasontha, and other members of the Ostrogoth court, to Constantinople.
