AB O tema proposto parte do reconhecimento do progresso científico da história religiosa medieval desde a década de 80 do século XX e assenta em três pontos: a identificação de “lacunas”, situando-as no contexto da acumulação do saber e da consciência da complexidade desse saber; considerações acerca das fontes documentais e da sua importância para o labor historiográfico; e a apresentação de perspetivas de investigação futura. São ensaiadas, a respeito deste último ponto, algumas reflexões teóricas e exemplificações de desafios concretos que se apresentam à história religiosa em Portugal.
AB This articles begins with recognition of the progress achieved in the field of medieval religious history as from the 1980s and based on three points: the identification of “loopholes”, placing them within the context of the accumulation of knowledge and understanding of the complexities of this field, considerations regarding document sources and their importance to historiographic studies as well as the presentation of future research perspectives. As regards this latter point, some theoretical reflections and exemplifications as to concrete challenges are proposed for the field of Portuguese religious history.
