Theologically founded on the communion of the Church, itself derived from the unity of the divine persons and their mission of salvation, synodality articulates three dimensions: "all", "some" and "one". It organises circularity within the People of God, and implies the co-responsibility of all baptised persons in the service of the Church's missionary pilgrimage. The institution of structures cannot, however, substitute for the permanent need for spiritual conversion. This new "affectus synodalis" may have some roots in the ecumenical movement, where the articulation of the primatial and synodal dimensions of Christianity has long been reflected upon. With this new impetus, a reciprocal learning of communion could take place between all the churches and communities involved in ecumenical dialogue. | ||

Fondée théologiquement sur la communion de l'Église, recueillie elle-même de l'unité des personnes divines et de leur mission de salut, la synodalité articule trois dimensions: "tous", "quelques-uns" et "un". Elle organise la circularité au sein du Peuple de Dieu, et implique la coresponsabilité de toutes les personnes baptisées au service du pèlerinage missionnaire de l'Église. L'institution des structures ne peut cependant se substituer à la nécessité permanente de la conversion spirituelle. Ce nouvel "affectus synodalis" trouverait des racines dans le mouvement œcuménique où se réfléchit depuis longtemps l'articulation de la dimension primatiale et de la dimension synodale du christianisme. Avec ce nouvel élan, un apprentissage réciproque de la communion pourrait s'exercer entre toutes les Églises et communautés partenaires du dialogue œcuménique. | ||
