總結:The biblical and cuneiform sources reveal a common legal tradition in the treatment of adultery. Apparent differences are due to the method of presentation used by the ancient law codes. Adultery was an offence against the husband by two parties: the wife and the paramour. His legal remedies against them sometimes coincided or were linked for reasons of policy, but they were on a different basis. Adultery was at the same time a sin which could result in divine punishment. Pre-marital infidelity was subject to analogous rules.
