AB Les Ps 70-72 ont été délibérément placés à la fin du deuxième recueil davidique (Ps 51-72), où ils sont censés exprimer la prière de David devenu vieux et abandonnant le trône à son fils Salomon. Les Ps 70-71 constituent en fait une seule pièce, expressément composée pour conclure le recueil. L'hypothèse d'une composition éditoriale, si elle pouvait être étendue au Ps 72, expliquerait le fait que cette prière, bien que postexilique, suppose fictivement l'institution monarchique encore en place. Ps 70-72 were deliberately placed at the end of the second Davidic collection, in which they were supposed to express David's prayer in a time he was becoming old and was giving up the throne to his son Solomon. Ps 70-71 are in fact a single piece: they were written to conclude the collection. If it was extended to 72, the hypothesis of an editorial composition could explain the fact that this prayer supposes the monarchic institution still standing, even if the text is post-exilic.
