One allusion is found in CD XX,14, where a Hebrew text similar to the assumed Vorlage of the LXX, but different from MT, seems to be represented. The second instance is more meaningful. CD V,3-4 mentions the events at the end of the book of Joshua: the priest Eleazar, his responsibility for the ark and his death, the death of Joshua and the elders and finally Israel's worship of the Ashtaroth. While the MT of Jos 24 knows only two of these elements, all of them are mentioned in the LXX. Already in 1977 A. Rofé ("The End of the Book of Joshua", Henoch 4 [1982] 117-39 = Shnaton 2 [1977] 217-27 [Hebrew]) has stressed the identity of the text underlying CD and the Hebrew Vorlage of the LXX. This article elaborates upon his discovery and its implications both for the text history of the book of Joshua and for the questions of literary criticism, redaction and canon at the end of the book of Joshua and the beginning of the book of Judges. MT, which deviates from both the text of CD and of LXX represents a later stage in the development of the text of the book of Joshua, and the text of CD proves the diversity of Hebrew texts in the Second Temple Period, not only in the Diaspora but also in Palestine. Le texte de CD montre des connexions avec le texte du livre de Josué dans deux occasions. CD XX,14 offre un texte hébreu différent du MT mais qui ressemble la Vorlage de la Septante. L'autre cas de ressemblance de CD avec le modèle hébraïque de la LXX est plus important. CD V,3-4 mentionne plusieurs événements à la fin du livre de Josué : le prêtre Éléazar, sa responsabilité de l'arche et sa mort, la mort de Josué et des anciens et finalement l'adoration des Astaroth par Israël. Le texte masoretique de Jos 24 connaît seulement deux de ces événements, mais ils sont tous mentionnés dans la LXX. Déjà en 1977 A. Rofé (« The End of the Book of Joshua », Henoch 4 [1982] 117-39 = Shnaton 2 [1977] 217-27 [hébreu]) avait souligné l'identité du texte qui est à la base de CD et le modèle de la LXX. Mon article développe sa découverte et ses conclusions pour l'histoire du texte du livre de Josué ainsi que pour les problèmes de critique littéraire, rédaction et canon à la fin du livre de Josué et au debut du livre des Juges. MT représente une étape postérieure du développement du livre de Josué, et le texte de CD montrera la diversité des textes bibliques à l'époque du Deuxième Temple, non seulement dans la Diaspora mais aussi en Palestine. | ||
