Depuis son ordonnance de 1704 condamnant le Cas de conscience jusqu’à sa grande instruction pastorale en forme de dialogues sur l’Vnigenitus souscrite le 1er janvier 1714, Fénelon n’a eu de cesse, pour éviter que les jansénistes ne puissent se protéger derrière la doctrine de l’École de saint Thomas, de réduire le thomisme orthodoxe entre les bornes qui lui avaient été fixées lors des Congrégations de auxiliis. Moliniste, Fénelon s’est finalement rallié à l’antithomisme des jésuites. | ||
