RT Article T1 Reading Luke 12 JF Neotestamentica VO 22 IS 2 SP 391 OP 414 A1 Lategan, B.C. A1 Rousseau, J. LA English PB NTWSA YR 1988 UL https://www.ixtheo.de/Record/1826575626 AB This study is a venture in empirical research. Starting with some theoretical considerations on reader-oriented studies, this paper reports on the findings of the readings of Luke 12:35-48 by first-year students in Biblical studies. The purpose was to obtain a better understanding of the reading process itself and in this way to contribute to an evaluation and possible revision of existing theoretical frameworks of reception. The findings of this study suggest that there is a correlation between the potential (Wirkung) of the text and its actualisation (Rezeption) by concrete readers. This is a facet of the autonomy of texts which should be explored in further empirical studies.
