Deconstruction, which gives scrupulous attention to subtle divisions within the text, offers a timely corrective to recent compositional and narrative approaches. But are divisions or other data actually ""in"" the text, or products of certain ways of ""framing"" it? The earlier reading is reenacted, but in a way designed to draw critical attention to the workings of the frame itself. |
