Zusammenfassung:Structural equation modeling (SEM) procedures using longitudinal data examined the validity of a trait conceptualization of spirituality to predict psychological growth and worldview. Religiosity, conceptualized as an acquired set of behaviors that reflect cultural values, was not expected to predict the outcomes or mediate the role of spirituality. Participants were adult Filipino nationals (N = 184 women, 64 men, and 13 not indicated) who completed the Spiritual Transcendence Scale, a religiosity index, and measures of personality, psychological growth (Prosocial Scale, Purpose in Life Test, Self-Actualization Scale) and worldview (Materialism Scale, Individualism/Collectivism Scale). Results of the SEM analyses supported spirituality as having a direct, unmediated impact on psychological growth and worldview. Religiosity, on the other hand, failed to evidence any unique direct effects in the presence of spirituality and personality. Implications of these findings were discussed.
