總結:Retreatants at a Jesuit retreat center in the Southeast were surveyed to assess their motivations for going on retreat, the retreat experience itself, their evaluation of the retreat, and its effect on them. The retreats were based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius which is a collection of prayers and contemplative practices designed to enhance one’s spirituality. Meditating and spirituality were the most highly rated motivations for going on retreat, and one-quarter of respondents indicated that as a result of the retreat they gained knowledge about God. Factor and regression analyses were used to further explore the relationships between background information, motivation factors, and outcomes.
