Σύνοψη:The current study aims to shed light on teacher education from the Islamic perspective, identifying education principles and practices as well as teachers’ characteristics. The methodology employed in this study exclusively depended on the researchers’ extensive reading of several books, research papers, book reviews, and other types of manuscripts in the relevant literature with special reference to several Quranic verses. The study results demonstrated that teacher education programs from an Islamic perspective play a significant role in providing both pre-service and in-service teachers with several pedagogical and content skills in addition to the religion objective. These programs prepare the kind of teachers who make real and lasting influence on the students’ life. As teachers are required to have outstanding ethical principles and social standards along with professional moral values, effective teacher education preparation programs produce skilled teachers, create productive minds, and build positive students’ minds valuable to their societies. In Islam, teachers, as role models, are obligated to follow the Islamic educational beliefs, ideologies, values, and ethical principles and then transfer them to their students. Finally, this indicates that Islam has emphasized the importance of education and knowledge.
