Résumé:ThebookofLeviticusisoneofthebooksthatreadersintendorseektobypasswhileexaminingtheBiblicalbooks.Somereadersseeitasadifficultbookintermsofcomprehensionandalsoasabooknotapplicabletotheissuesaffectingcontemporarysociety,asemphasisarelaidonthelawsorinjunctionsabouttheofferingofsacrificesandconductsinworship.Hence,suchpracticesareseenasobsoleteorarchaictocontemporarysociety.Interestingly,acarefulobservationofthebookofLeviticusunearthsrichtheologicalpremises,expoundedontherelationshipbetweenYHWH(God’snametransliteratestoYHWHwhichisknownastetragrammaton)andIsrael,wherethelawsofYHWHcanbeinterpretedtobeYHWH’SsocialethicsaimedatguidingtheIsraelitesenforcingorderlinessinallramificationsoflife.ThisarticlepowersonexaminingthebookofLeviticus,usingitasamodeltoshowcasetherelevanceofYahweh’ssocialethicsinLeviticusforcontemporaryNigeriasociety.ThebookofLeviticusasauntowouldbeaccessed,alongwithexaminingcriticalquestionslike:whatsocial-ethicalinjunctionsweregivensinLeviticus?Arethosesocialethicalinjunctionrevelationsforcontemporarysociety?Iftheyare,howcantheybeappliedincontemporaryNigeriasociety?Allthese questions would be exposed as to the rudiments of what this article seeks to communicate.
