Resumo:In addition to the various nouns meaning "year" attested in the Semitic languages, there exist numerous unique adverbs with reference to years past, present and future. That is to say, besides transparent noun phrases with an adverbial function - phrases that are parallel or similar to English "this year", "last year" and "next year" - we also find a number of lexical adverbs with these meanings. This article examines these various adverbs or adverbial phrases in the diverse Semitic languages, both ancient and modern, coming from a variety of semantic developments, some of which are typologically unusual.
