Historic perspective is of great importance in this connection, especially the conception of the past and future. A comparison of African and Old Testament eschatology supplying applicable examples from history result in two options: catastrophe or peace, the apocalyptic Xhosa cattle-killing of 1857 or the contemporary Independent Churches movement respectively. These are both legitimate options in the Old Testament as well as in Africa and in line with their world-views. | ||
