Randall Webber's research looks at previous approaches to James and explores reading as socially conditioned. He discusses James as read by an early post-Pauline audience and by a Palestinian audience, and deals with the Christian transformation of the ideology of righteousness. In his conclusion, Webber discusses diversity and the canonization process.
