Sumario:The economic crisis Middle Eastern and North African countries are faced with propels a political economic transition "from inward-looking, state-dominated to outward-looking, private sector and market-oriented development; and from corporalist, inclusionary to more pluralist, exclusionary political arrangements". But these arrangements are not predictable. Citizens' demands for accountability from their governments will certainly grow, yet transitions from authoritarianism to democracy don't appear unavoidable. (DÜI-Cls)
