Περιγραφή
Σύνοψη:This paper is about the extent to which Suriname youth support the socioeconomic rights which are inscribed in todays’ Suriname constitution. First some of this constitution’s highlights are presented (1). Then this constitution’s main socioeconomic rights are described from the perspective of international human rights declarations and treaties (2). After that a report is given about the endorsement of these rights by Suriname youth, divided into three different groups, Christian, Muslim and Hindu higher secondary education students. The so-called classic socioeconomic rights appear to be well supported by them, whereas the refugee rights are surrounded by negatively oriented ambivalence (3). The paper ends with a short conclusion.
