Description
Summary:The subject of this article is an early socialist pamphlet in the form of a parody on Maimonides’ Thirteen Principles of Faith. The pamphlet was written by Morris Winchevsky in Hebrew and first published in London in 1885. The text is regarded as the first in a series of socialist and anarchist satirical pamphlets that were written in the period 1885–1910. In 1903 the text was republished in another pamphlet, together with a Yiddish translation. The main focus of this article will be on this second version and the differences between the original Hebrew text and its Yiddish translation.
