Итог:Despite the burgeoning of gender and religion studies over the last few decades, very few works address questions of sound and hearing. Yet acoustic and auditory practices and perceptions can be closely linked to patterns of gender differentiation. Drawing on recent research in sound studies, with a focus on voice and vocalization, the article discusses what challenges and enhancements a sonically aware approach might afford.
