Resumo: | Louis-Marie Chauvet is best known and commented upon for his sacramental theology, structure of coming to faith and Christian identity, and his utilization of Heideggerian, (post)structuralist, psychoanalytical, and anthropological resources in order to articulate his theological method. Not extensively commented on, however, is the equally important fundamental ecclesiology within which this method is situated and grounded. In this article, I attempt to address this lack by identifying the Church as hermeneutical sacrament, a move which is indebted to Chauvet, but one which also enhances and builds upon its latent hermeneutical potential. In order to do this, I utilise Lieven Boeve’s theology of interruption, resulting in a relecture of Chauvet's theology for a Western context marked by the Postmodern epistemological critique. |
