Summary: | In the Intercession Prayers on Good Friday in the Roman Rite, there is a connection between the terms »purification« and »error« (purgatio and error). A detailed analysis of the use of the term error in the Bible and in the Liturgy shows that dogmatic as well as philosophical, ethical, and cultic aspects can be subsumed under this term. In the context of the Good Friday Prayer becomes apparent that error is here mainly seen as a sort of suffering. The »purification of the error« is meant to be a matter of healing with direct soteriological implications. |
