Σύνοψη: | The article explores the international activities of Soka Gakkai, which is the biggest Buddhist Organisation in Japan and wields a measure of political power through the Komeito Party, from a pro-Soviet angle. Sharp rise in its foreign membership. Unlike other Japanese religious organisations which operate abroad mostly among Japanese communities, Soka Gakkai focusses on rucruiting members from among the local population and setting up more and more overseas branches. The current leaders of the organisation are using Nichiren's (a 13th century Buddhist preacher) ideas to justify their efforts to spread their ideology as a world religion.
